In Denmark folktale, swans are flying to the Arctic because they are told that there is a paradise there, a pure land with no humans and pollution. However, they encounter many huge icebergs that block their way and freeze their wings. They are stuck.
To conquer the icebergs, and regain freedom, they have to flap their wings very hard, which creates beautiful, magical astronomical landscape - aurora.
